Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has expressed regret over her call for the exhumation of late Nigerian singer Mohbad during the investigation into his death, stating she would have acted differently if she had foreseen the prolonged and inconclusive nature of the case.

In a recent interview on the ‘Talk to B Podcast’, Iyabo explained her initial intentions were rooted in a quest for justice and clarity regarding the controversial circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s sudden demise on September 12, 2023.

“I wouldn’t have requested that Mohbad be exhumed if I knew his case would turn out this way. I just wanted an autopsy to uncover the cause of his death,” the actress said, lamenting the shift in focus to DNA theories during the investigation.

Mohbad, whose real name was Ilerioluwa Aloba, passed away unexpectedly at 27, leaving Nigerians in shock.

The singer was hastily buried less than two days later, sparking public outrage and demands for a thorough probe.

His father, Joseph Aloba, later explained that the burial was rushed due to cultural beliefs and the limited property Mohbad owned.

An investigation revealed that Mohbad’s death resulted from injections administered by a quack nurse, which triggered adverse reactions.

Despite exhuming his body for forensic analysis, the case has seen little progress, and the late singer has not been re-buried nearly two years later.
