Not less than 11 persons were injured in an accident involving three vehicles along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Saturday morning.
A statement signed by the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency spokesman, Babatunde Akinbiyi, said the incident started with a Mazda bus colliding with a truck heading inside the premises of a private company.
According to him a Toyota Hiace bus that was coming behind afterwards, rammed into the two other vehicles.
He said, “A serious crash involving a truck and 18-seater passenger bus at Cway junction some few meters after Heyden filling station, interchange.
“According to an eye witness, the driver of the Mack truck was trying to manoeuvre to Cway company and due to the inpatient and excessive speed of the Mazda bus, which led to the crash also affecting a Toyota hiace bus that lost control immediately the driver sighted the accident upfront.”
Adding, he said, “The vehicles involved are a MAZDA bus with number plate SMK 554 YH, a MACK truck with number plate FNN 934 XA, and a TOYOTA Hiace bus with number plate kJA 995 XA.
“21 people were involved, including 12 adult males and nine adult females, while 11 people were injured, including eight males and three females. The injured victims were taken to Idera Hospital at Shagamu by FRSC.”
Accidents are common on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
