Three persons kidnapped from Nasarawa State have been freed from a forest in Unguwan Wulliam Kumar Village, Ibi Local Government Area of Taraba State.

The victims, were freed after a combined team of policemen, local hunters, and vigilantes engaged the kidnappers in a gun duel, Taraba Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Usman said in a statement.

He identified the rescued victims as Alhaji Ja’o Ahmadu, 50, from Wuse, Awe LGA, Nasarawa State,Gomna Shano, 20, from Wuse, Awe LGA, Nasarawa State, Donnal Himbeto, 30, from Kuka Shendam, Plateau State.

According to the statement, the rescue operation was made possible by credible intelligence received from the Officer in charge of Nayeh Police outpost Ibi Division.

“The kidnappers, who were subdued during the gun duel, fled into the forest with serious injuries,” Usman said.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Ukachi P Opara, commended the collaborative efforts of the officers involved and assured the public that the command would continue to ensure that criminals have no breathing space within the state.

“He urged members of the public with useful information on criminals’ hideouts and activities to report via the Command’s control room number, 08030972376, he added.
