Three workers of Motrun Enterprises Limited, a frozen fish company, have been arrested by the Zone 2 Command of the Nigeria Police in Lagos for allegedly stealing their employer’s stock of 109 cartons of frozen fish, valued at N11.2 million.

The accused, Afeez Ibrahim, Sanni Sulaimon, and Wasiu Adetunji, were cold room attendants and storekeepers.

They reportedly tampered with the fish, reducing the weight of other cartons from 20kg to 16kg, before selling them and pocketing the proceeds.

The theft came to light when the employer conducted a stock check and discovered the missing and tampered cartons.

A petition was filed with the Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Adegoke Fayoade, leading to their arrest after investigation by Inspector Taiwo Abass and his team.

The defendants were charged with conspiracy, fraud, and theft before the Igbosere Magistrate’s Court in Lagos.

The charge, marked R/1/2025, states that the theft occurred between January 19, 2023, and June 13, 2024.

Police prosecutor ASP Ibrahim Haruna revealed that the accused sold the stolen goods and misappropriated the funds.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Magistrate granted each defendant N500,000 bail, with two sureties in like sum, and adjourned the case to January 27, 2025.

They were remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre pending the fulfillment of their bail conditions.
