Nigerian singer Spyro has accused music executive Ubi Franklin of scamming him out of $5,000 after a performance in Ghana.

In a recent interview on the Echoroom podcast, Spyro alleged that Franklin lured him into performing at a birthday party under the guise of a request from Afrobeats superstar Davido.

Despite an agreement to pay him $5,000 for the performance, Spyro claims Franklin failed to fulfill his promise.

Recounting the incident, Spyro said he was initially hesitant to perform, citing his strict policy of working only through his management. He alleged that Franklin manipulated the situation by falsely claiming Davido had requested the performance.

“Upon getting to the venue, Davido was leaving the stage, and Ubi informed me that I was up next. I couldn’t decline because there were dignitaries present,” Spyro said.

The singer expressed his frustration, stating that Franklin ignored his requests for payment after the event, even after their return to Lagos. According to Spyro, Franklin went as far as warning him not to contact Davido about the issue, revealing that Davido had never made such a request.

Spyro also mentioned the involvement of Pastor Bolaji in attempting to resolve the matter, but no resolution was reached.

“It’s painful because he goes around scamming people. I’m speaking out to protect other artists who might fall victim to this,” Spyro added.
