Veteran Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has spoken out on the rising number of untimely deaths around the world, particularly among youths in their twenties, thirties, and forties.
In an Instagram post, Edochie attributed these tragic losses to the abandonment of indigenous traditions in favour of foreign practices.
The father of five expressed concern over the growing trend of premature deaths, stating that it is not a normal occurrence.
According to Edochie, this phenomenon is linked to the neglect of traditional spiritual practices, which he believes have been overshadowed by foreign ideologies.
Edochie went on to explain that the spirits once revered for their protective power have become angered due to their abandonment. He emphasized the importance of returning to these ancient practices, which he described as pure and powerful, to restore balance and safety.
“Too many premature deaths these days. Young people dying in their twenties, thirties, forties. It is not normal. It is happening because we have abandoned our traditional ways and embraced the ways of oyinbo people,” Edochie wrote. “The spirits that protect many of us and our lands are angry because they have been relegated. We must go back to our traditional ways, which are very pure and powerful.”
