Gunmen struck at the heart of Ogun State, abducting the wife of retired Assistant Inspector General of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, in the upscale Orange Estate, Arepo.
The horrifying incident unfolded late Thursday night, around 9:55 PM, as Mrs. Odumosu was returning to her residence on Aminu Street.
Just as she stepped out of her Lexus Jeep, four masked men emerged from the shadows, their intent unmistakable.
In moments of sheer terror, the assailants dragged Mrs Odumosu from the vehicle and vanished into the murky depths of a nearby swampy area.
Confirming the shocking development, the Ogun State Police Command, through its spokeswoman, CSP Omolola Odutola, revealed that a frantic search is underway.
“The Divisional Police Officer of Warewa Division immediately mobilised his team to the scene and initiated a manhunt for the perpetrators,” she stated.
In a bid to widen the search net, traditional rulers in the area, including the Baales of Warewa and Maaba, have been enlisted to rally local security forces.
The coordinated effort aims to comb the swampy terrain and surrounding areas where the kidnappers fled.
As the clock ticks and the tension mounts, the abduction has left the quiet Arepo community in shock, with fears of further attacks rising.
The daring raid on the family of a former top law enforcement officer underscores the growing audacity of criminal elements in the region.
Authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant as the search intensifies to rescue Mrs. Odumosu and bring the culprits to justice.
