Prince Dauda Ewenla displays his staff of office and certificate as the Akinjagunla of Yorubaland

Prince (Dr) Adedipe Dauda Ewenla is now Akinjagunla Aare Onakakanfo of Yoruba.

Iba Gani Adams, the 15th Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, conferred the title on Ewenla on 13 January 2025, during his 7th anniversary as the Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland.

Aare Adams said he chose the day to coincide with the presentation of staff of office to the newly elected Alaafin of Oyo, adding that he also appointed Ewenla as the Akinjagunla Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland due to his commitment to the cause of the Yoruba culture and values over the years.

The Aare Onakakanfo at the event enjoined Ewenla to continue to uphold the culture and values of the Yoruba nation.

“I urged you to continue to uphold the culture and values of Yoruba.

“By y so doing, Yoruba nation will be a strong force to be reckoned with globally,” Adams said.

In his acceptance speech, Prince Ewenla promised to continue to do his best in upholding the culture and values of the Yoruba nation, adding that the culture and values of the Yoruba nation were paramount to him.

He also congratulated the new Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade, saying “he’s the best man for the throne (Ade ape lori o)”.

Ewenla expressed his appreciation to the Aare Onakakanfo: “I want to use this opportunity to thank our great leader, Iba Gani Abiodun Ige Adams for finding me worthy of this title. I am not going to disappoint you, Sir”.
