Hours after his inauguration on Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order recognising  only the male and female genders.

Trump says:  “My Administration will defend women’s rights and protect freedom of conscience by using clear and accurate language and policies that recognise women are biologically female, and men are biologically male.

“It is the policy of the United States to recognise two sexes – male and female.

“These sexes are not changeable and are grounded in fundamental and incontrovertible reality.”

According to the order, official government documents, such as passports and visas, can only reflect male and female as the only two sexes.

The order states: “The erasure of sex in language and policy has a corrosive impact not just on women but on the validity of the entire American system.”

However, it is being speculated that it might be difficult to implement the order as transgender people might seek protection from the court.
