The Ogun State Government has vowed to take stern action against developers who violate government seals on properties, imposed by the enforcement team of the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.
Titilayo Oladogbon, Acting General Manager of the Ogun State Building Production Management Authority, made the statement in Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government Area.
She highlighted various infractions, including unauthorized developments, construction without registered professionals on-site, absence of project information boards, and breaking government seals.
Oladogbon expressed disappointment at some violators who, rather than regularizing their properties or applying for an appeal to unseal them, defy the law by removing seals and continuing construction.
She emphasized that the authority would be forced to involve a task force, with arrest orders, to prevent such illegal activities.
“Breaking a government seal is a serious offence under the Ogun State Building Production Management Regulations (OGBPMR), 2022,” Oladogbon stated. “Violators will face fines depending on the severity of the infraction.”
She urged the public to notify the Authority at least seven days before starting any construction work in the state.
Oladogbon reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to ensuring all buildings are properly supervised, safe, and built to high standards, in line with the OGBPMR, 2022, for the development of resilient and sustainable communities.
