Sanwo-Olu gives contractor 12-month Ultimatum for 280-Bed Ojo General Hospital completion

The pace of work on the 280-bed General Hospital in Ojo, Lagos State, is set to accelerate as Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has given the contractor a 12-month ultimatum to complete the project.
On Tuesday, the Governor, accompanied by Deputy Governor Dr Obafemi Hamzat and members of the State Executive Council, visited the hospital’s construction site to evaluate the progress of work.
During the tour, Sanwo-Olu pledged full government support to ensure the project is delivered by the end of the year.
The Ojo General Hospital, spanning 6.5 hectares along the Lagos-Badagry corridor, is designed to enhance healthcare services in Lagos West Senatorial District.
Upon completion, it will become the largest healthcare facility in the area, offering specialised medical services and complementing existing primary and secondary healthcare centres.
“This hospital is being developed to address the gap in healthcare infrastructure in Ojo and its environs,” Sanwo-Olu said.
“Our goal is to provide a world-class facility that will transform the care experience for residents. We are committed to meeting our obligations and ensuring the contractor delivers this project in the next 12 months.”
Key facilities in the hospital include delivery theatres, paediatric and surgical wards, oncology and gynaecology units, a dialysis centre, an intensive care unit, and an accident and emergency department.
Additional amenities will include doctors’ residences, a morgue, a central laboratory, a pharmacy, a bank, and parking spaces.
The hospital is strategically located near Ojo Military Cantonment, Lagos State University, and the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (Blue Line), aligning with the Governor’s broader vision to revitalise the Ojo area.
In addition to the hospital project, Sanwo-Olu officially launched the construction of a 1,500-shop shopping complex along the LASU-Iyana Iba Road.
The complex, named the Platinum Shopping Complex, will be built in four phases, with each of the 27 blocks housing 30 shops.
“This initiative goes beyond improving infrastructure; it is about regenerating the environment and boosting the socio-economic power of our people,” Sanwo-Olu said during the groundbreaking ceremony.
The shopping complex is a public-private partnership involving Almera Global Investment Services, Lagos State Development and Property Corporation (LSDPC), and Ojo Local Government.
Sanwo-Olu emphasised that the ongoing projects in Ojo and its environs reflect his administration’s commitment to fulfilling campaign promises and improving the quality of life for Lagos residents.
The Governor also called on the community to remain patient and support the development efforts, assuring them that the projects would bring lasting benefits to the area.
