Adamawa man arrested for abducting, raping schoolgirl unconscious

A 22-year-old man identified as Luka James has been arrested in Adamawa State for abducting and raping a 15-year-old schoolgirl unconscious.

Luka James was arrested by the police operatives for offenses of criminal conspiracy, abduction and rape of a minor, Yahaya Ngurore, spokesperson for the Adamawa Command said in a statement on Monday.

According to the statement, the suspect who is from Gwalantabal Village in Song Local Government Area of the State was arrested in Michicka following a report made to the police by Yohanna Begie, a resident of Nkafa Village.

The police spokesperson said the report indicated that on 31st January, 2025, the victim was on her way to school when the suspect conspired with one Emmanuel, who is currently on the run, abducted her into a nearby bush and had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.

Ngurore said the victim was found unconscious at the scene of the rape and was immediately rushed to the hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Damkombo Morris expressed worry over the ugly incident and directed the Deputy commissioner of Police
in charge of CID to take over the investigation and ensure justice.

“The CP advised members of the public, especially parents, to develop a habit of close monitoring of their wards and provide timely information to the police,” the Adamawa Police Command spokesperson said.
