While expressing the opposition of NCAA to unruly behaviours by passengers, Achimugu noted that there was no basis to have tried to forcefully delete Omisore's video. He also noted that Kenya Airways should not have allowed the Nigerian passenger to board its flight from Nigeria IF she was not qualified due to visa requirements. "You issued her boarding passes and let her leave Lagos. She flew into Nigeria via your airline on the same route. She claims to have called the airline BEFORE paying for the ticket and she was told that she was qualified since she own a BRP," Achimugu said.

Michael Achimugu, the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection of Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA has faulted Kenya Airways’ defence of treatment of a Nigerian passenger, Ms Omisore who was stopped from boarding a connecting flight to Paris in Nairobi.

The Nigerian was shown in a viral video in arguments with the staff of Nairobi Airport after she was denied boarding the connecting flight.

However, Kenya Airways in a statement published on its media handle claimed that the Nigerian woman was denied boarding her connecting flight because she lacked the necessary documents.

The airline also claimed that the passenger threw used sanitary pads at its staff in the airport.

But while faulting the claims, Achimugu noted that Kenya Airways has long history of maltreatment against your airline, of Nigerian passengers, including staff of the NCAA.

While expressing the opposition of NCAA to unruly behaviours by passengers, Achimugu noted that there was no basis to have tried to forcefully delete Omisore’s video.

He also noted that Kenya Airways should not have allowed the Nigerian passenger to board its flight from Nigeria IF she was not qualified due to visa requirements.

“You issued her boarding passes and let her leave Lagos. She flew into Nigeria via your airline on the same route. She claims to have called the airline BEFORE paying for the ticket and she was told that she was qualified since she own a BRP,” Achimugu said.

He also faulted the statements made by the Kenya Airways staff who asked the Nigerian passenger to “Call your president,” staying
it “insinuates a lot.”

Achimugu concluded that the head of Kenya Airways operations in Nigeria has been summoned for a meeting where evidences of claims against the Nigerian passenger will be required.

“You will be asked to provide CCTV footage showing that she threw her used sanitary towels AT your staff rather than place them on the table when asked by your personnel to provide evidence that she was bleeding.

“The NCAA has invited your Ag. Station Manager in Lagos to a meeting by 1pm today. We will review all of the issues. Attendance is mandatory.”
