Nollywood actress Funke Akindele has taken a heartfelt trip down memory lane, recalling her days of struggle and the kindness of colleagues who stood by her.
Speaking candidly about her early years in the industry, Akindele revealed how fellow actress Tayo Odueke, popularly known as Sindodo, played a pivotal role in her journey.
“I remember when I used to borrow Sindodo’s clothes to audition. She would willingly give me outfits to look good,” she shared, highlighting the generosity that helped her stay confident during those trying times.
The Jenifa star also recounted moments of deep frustration when she faced rejection at auditions.
“There were times when I didn’t get roles, and I would cry so much. Sindodo would console me, telling me not to cry,” Akindele said, showing how invaluable the support of a friend was in her rise to stardom.
Beyond Sindodo’s kindness, Akindele also praised another industry icon, Iyabo Ojo, for her unwavering support.
“Iyabo Ojo was very nice; she used to take us out to buy food. She has always been someone who loves to fight for people,” she noted.
Akindele’s story serves as a powerful reminder of the struggles many actors face before making it big and the importance of a strong support system in navigating the industry’s harsh realities.
Today, as one of Nollywood’s most celebrated actresses, she remains grateful for those who lifted her during her lowest moments.
