President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic fire incident that engulfed an Islamic school in Kaura Namoda, Zamfara State, on Tuesday night, resulting in the loss of several young lives.
No fewer than 17 pupils were killed in the fire that also injured many others.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President extended heartfelt condolences to the parents, guardians, and families of the victims.
He also commiserated with the Zamfara State government and the school’s proprietors, describing the incident as a devastating loss.
The President stressed the need for all public and private schools to prioritise the safety and security of children at all times.
Tinubu directed regulatory authorities in the education sector to ensure strict compliance with safety standards to prevent such tragedies in the future.
The President also prayed for the speedy recovery of those receiving medical treatment and for God to grant eternal rest to the departed souls while offering strength and comfort to their bereaved families.
The fire incident has sparked concerns about the state of school safety across the country, with calls for stricter enforcement of regulations to ensure the protection of children in learning environments.
