Vice President Kashim Shettima, former Senate President Bukola Saraki, and ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar were among the dignitaries who attended a symposium marking the 60th birthday of Kayode Fayemi, former governor of Ekiti State.
The event, held at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja, brought together a diverse group of leaders, including Amina Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, and Abiodun Oyebanji, Governor of Ekiti State.
Other notable attendees included Bisi Akande, former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Yakubu Gowon, former Military Head of State, and Opeyemi Bamidele, Senate Leader. Traditional rulers, such as Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, and Muhammadu Sanusi II, the Emir of Kano, also graced the occasion.
The symposium featured a keynote address by former South African President Thabo Mbeki and a panel discussion on “Renewing the pan-African ideal for the changing times: The leadership and policy challenges and opportunities.”
Additionally, the event saw the launch of the Amandla Institute for Policy and Leadership Advancement.
