Bayero University Kano (BUK) will confer First Class degrees on 176 graduands during its 39th convocation ceremony.
The Vice-Chancellor, BUK, Prof. Sagir Abbas, disclosed this to journalists on Monday, adding that the university would also confer Honorary Degrees on two distinguished Nigerians—Col. Sani Bello (Rtd) and Alhaji Auwalu Abdullahi Rano, popularly known as A.A. Rano.
The 39th convocation is scheduled to hold from Wednesday, 12 February, to Saturday, 15 February.
On Wednesday, BUK will award degrees and diplomas to 4,402 graduands from 11 faculties. On Thursday, the institution will confer First Class degrees on 176 students, Master’s degrees on 2,590 graduands, Postgraduate Diplomas on 535 recipients, and PhDs on 275 scholars.
The convocation lecture, titled “Innovation and Entrepreneurship: A Pathway to National Development,” will be delivered on Friday by the Vice Chairman/CEO of NACENI, Khalili Sulaiman Halilu.
The lecture will be chaired by the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Chief Uche Jeffrey Nnaji.
Prof. Abbas also announced that the university will confer the title of Emeritus Professor on three distinguished retired scholars—Prof. Garba Dahuwa Azare, Prof. Julius Afolabi Falola, and Prof. Musa Mohammed Borodo.
