Primate Elijah Ayodele, the Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has issued a stern warning to President Tinubu regarding the proposed creation of additional states in Nigeria.
Ayodele emphasizes that this move will inevitably lead to more problems and potentially destabilize the country if not carefully planned.
According to Ayodele, the creation of more states will not benefit the country, but instead, will cause unnecessary suffering for its citizens.
He noted that some states, like Lagos and Oyo, may benefit from state creation, but others will struggle due to lack of resources and capacity.
Ayodele specifically cautioned against proposing more than 30 new states, as this will lead to the destruction of existing states.
He urged the president to reconsider the plan, prioritizing the nation’s unity and well-being over political interests.
The prophet also highlighted the vulnerability of states like Edo, Delta, and Osun, which are already facing challenges and may be further destabilized by state creation.
He advised the government to think critically about the proposal, warning of severe consequences if it is implemented without proper consideration.
The cleric said: “It’s not proper for the nation at this time, it won’t help all of them, and the current proposal will destroy existing states totally because they don’t have the capacity. They should think before going ahead with it because some will be thrown off-balance for life.
“Some states like Edo state that is having issues, Delta state, Osun state that are not making significant progress will eventually be destroyed if they are divided. The government should think deeply and not work on this for political reasons if not, there will be serious regret.”
