Edun jailed 21 years

A meticulous investigation by the Metropolitan Police has led to the conviction and sentencing of a notorious sex offender, Keith Edun, 47, to 21 years in prison.

Edun, of Strathmore Road, Croydon, was found guilty of encouraging the rape and sexual assault of a baby, distributing indecent images of children, and perverting the course of justice.

The sentencing, handed down at Croydon Crown Court on February 14, 2025, reflects the severity of Edun’s crimes and the significant risk he poses to children.

The court heard that Edun had a determined and committed sexual interest in children, especially babies, over an extended period.

Detective Constable Phill Govett, the investigating officer, described Edun as a “dangerous sexual offender” who went to great lengths to hide his crimes.

He deleted a messaging app from his phone before answering the door to officers, attempting to conceal his online activities.

The investigation, launched in 2021, involved meticulous digital forensic examination of Edun’s devices, revealing disturbing evidence of his crimes.

Edun’s online communications with another male, who was convicted of raping a baby in March 2020, showed that Edun had encouraged the male to commit the heinous crime.

He was charged in October 2023 and remanded into custody.

In addition to his 21-year sentence, he was issued with a lifetime Sexual Harm Prevention Order and placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life.

The sentencing sends a strong message that those who encourage or commit crimes against children will be held accountable.

DC Govett emphasized that the investigation demonstrates the Met’s commitment to keeping vulnerable children safe across the UK.
