Lagos has been rocked by a stunning corporate betrayal as a vigilante and a casual welder allegedly connived to steal their employer’s armoured cables worth a staggering N36 million.

The Police at Lion Building Division, Lagos Island, swiftly arrested the security guard in charge of Hadassah TI Shipping Company, Emmanuel Philip, and his alleged accomplice, Albert John, before dragging them to court over the jaw-dropping theft.

According to police reports, Philip and John allegedly tampered with their employer’s office keys, gaining illegal access to the company’s garage to execute their daring heist.

When the theft was discovered, the firm wasted no time in reporting the crime to the Divisional Police Officer, who ordered an immediate crackdown that led to their arrest.

After thorough investigations led by Inspector Nnamdi Majeka and his team, the accused were arraigned before the Igbosere Magistrate’s Court sitting at Tinubu Magistrate’s Court on a three-count charge of conspiracy and theft.

Police prosecutor, Reuben Solomon, told the court that the accused committed the crime on 11 January, 2025, betraying their employer’s trust and making off with the high-value cables after office hours before being apprehended.

He emphasized that their actions violated sections 411, 360, and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2025.

Despite the weight of the allegations, the defendants pleaded not guilty.

Magistrate O.A Wahab granted them bail and adjourned the case till 27 February, 2025, for mention, ordering that they remain in custody at Ikoyi Correctional Facility until they meet their bail conditions.
