The Flag Foundation of Nigeria, FFN has described the death of leader of Pa Ayo Adebanjo, the leader of Yoruba social – political group Afenifere and leader of Pan Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF, Chief Edwin Clark, in quick succession as not only a big loss for Nigeria, but end of an era for the country.

“Both men embodied the ideals of nationalism, justice, equity, and unabashed dedication to social, economic and political advancement of Nigeria which are in line with our focus, ideals and guiding light as an organization. We considered their death a big loss to the nation and humanity at large,” Chris Agiri, the Director General of FFN said in a statement on Thursday.

The FFN boss added that Pa Adebanjo and Chief Clark were not only exceptional statesmen, but were not afraid to speak truth to power on any issue they felt strongly about, especially as related to well-being of Nigeria and Nigerians.

He recalled that both men were advocates of restructured Nigeria and true federalism as path to national peace, progress, justice and development.

“They are true Nigerian icons. Their lives were dedicated to the pursuit of justice, equity and transformation of Nigeria to true egalitarian society. Death has robbed Nigerians and indeed, the entire humanity of these advocate for justice.

“At FFN, we mourn the passage of these national titans, even as we also celebrate the exemplary lives they lived. As we mourn with their families, loved ones and indeed, the entire nation, we urge Nigerians to see their passage as a call to continue uphold the values of fairness, justice and equity they stood for,” Agiri said.
