Iresa-Adu, a historic town in Oyo State, has achieved a major milestone as one of its illustrious sons, Prince Adebayo Kayode, has secured land for the permanent establishment of the Federal College of Agriculture Outreach Centre.
This move prevents the institution from being relocated to a neighbouring town due to lingering land disputes.
The Federal College of Agriculture, which has been operating on a temporary site for two years, was at risk of being moved elsewhere due to the unavailability of a permanent site.
However, Prince Adebayo, a UK-based philanthropist and founder of the Iresa Royal Foundation, intervened and purchased the required hectares of land directly from Surulere Local Government.
The acquisition, fully documented at the state level, ensures the institution’s permanent presence in Iresa-Adu.
Expressing his commitment to preserving Iresa-Adu’s educational future, Prince Adebayo stated, “This is the first higher institution on Iresa-Adu soil, and losing it over land disputes would have been regrettable. Many people worked tirelessly to bring it here, and we cannot allow that effort to go to waste. I am honoured to have played a role in securing the land.”
His intervention has been met with overwhelming appreciation from the community.
One of the town’s elders remarked, “We have long yearned for a higher institution in Iresa-Adu. Our town holds an important place in Yoruba history, yet others have seen more development. We thank Prince Adebayo for stepping in at this crucial time.”
A women’s leader in the community also acknowledged the significance of the land purchase, recalling its original sale to the local government in the early 1990s. “The school needed the land, but we all know the challenges in Nigeria. Prince Adebayo has always supported us, and we pray he never gets tired.”
Prince Adebayo’s contributions to Iresa-Adu extend beyond this historic acquisition. Through the Iresa Royal Foundation, he has spearheaded initiatives such as student relief loans, empowerment programs, sports tournaments, and food distribution efforts. His unwavering commitment has bridged generational gaps and strengthened the town’s development efforts.
For many youths, this achievement represents a transformative moment. “Prince Adebayo has never failed Iresa-Adu,” said one community youth. “This institution will benefit us, our children, and future generations. It is truly historic.”
