Omowunmi Aloba, the widow of late Nigerian music star Mohbad, has spoken out against the intense scrutiny and backlash she has faced, claiming she is “the most bullied widow” in the country.
Speaking on TVC’s Your View, Omowunmi alleged that her father-in-law, Joseph Aloba, has been at the forefront of the attacks against her, turning people against her over his persistent demand for a DNA test to determine the paternity of her son, Liam.
“I have nothing to hide. I don’t have an issue with my father-in-law asking for a DNA test, but it’s the way he is going about it,” she stated.
Omowunmi revealed that she and her father-in-law were once very close and that he had even pressured her and her late husband into having a child before they were ready, using fasting and prayers to convince them.
Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023, and his father buried him less than 24 hours later in Ikorodu, Lagos State. Amid ongoing controversy surrounding his death, authorities exhumed his body on September 21 for an autopsy. However, the results are still pending.
Joseph Aloba has maintained that Mohbad will only be reburied once the autopsy results are released and a DNA test confirms Liam’s paternity.
