In the dynamic field of engineering and materials science, few names stand out as prominently as Dr. Kehinde Amoo. A distinguished researcher, educator, entrepreneur, and innovator, Dr. Amoo has made remarkable contributions to Wood Products and Biomaterials Engineering, driving sustainability and industrial efficiency. His pioneering work in paper-based materials, wood composites, and waste recycling technologies reflects his commitment to developing engineering solutions that balance environmental consciousness with industrial needs.

Academic Excellence

Born in Iwo, Osun State, Nigeria, Dr. Amoo’s academic journey is a story of perseverance and brilliance. He earned his Ph.D. in Wood Products and Biomaterials Engineering from the University of Ibadan in 2021, with research focused on enhancing the quality of locally manufactured 30-cell paper egg trays—a sustainable alternative to conventional plastic packaging.

Earlier, he obtained his master’s degree in Agricultural and Environmental/Wood Products Engineering from the same university in 2013. His research on developing a manual cement-bonded composite tile-making machine showcased his early interest in creating sustainable construction materials. His bachelor’s degree, also from the University of Ibadan, laid a strong foundation in engineering, culminating in a final-year project on the compatibility of unpeeled rattan cane particles with Portland cement.

Innovative Research and Patents

Dr. Amoo’s research has led to practical, real-world applications, including two patented innovations:

  • Stabilized Cassava-Based Gel and Its Production Techniques—A groundbreaking cassava-based material with industrial uses in pulp and paper processing, laundry, and joinery.
  • Manual Waste Paper Recycling Machine—A device designed for producing paper egg trays, promoting waste utilization, job creation, and economic growth.

His international recognition includes studies on cassava gel, polyvinyl acetate, and hydroxyethyl cellulose as sizing agents for paper egg trays. He was invited to present this work at PaperCon 2018 in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA—a testament to his global impact, despite visa-related challenges preventing his physical attendance.

Professional Impact

Dr. Amoo’s expertise extends beyond academia. As Principal Consultant at KIWO Global Engineering Services Ltd., he leads projects that integrate sustainability into industrial processes. His roles as a Teaching and Research Assistant and Manager at the University of Ibadan’s Teaching and Research Sawmill underscore his dedication to mentorship and practical innovation. He has shared his knowledge at prominent forums, including the Forestry Association of Nigeria (FAN) Conference, where he presented on sawmill waste management and wood-based industrial applications.

Recognition and Influence

Dr. Amoo’s outstanding research has earned him multiple Publication Awards from the University of Ibadan’s Postgraduate School in 2016 and 2017. As a registered engineer with COREN (Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria) and a corporate member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, he remains committed to advancing Nigeria’s engineering landscape.

Inspiring Future Generations

Dr. Kehinde Amoo’s journey embodies innovation, resilience, and scholarly excellence.
