According to the government, multiple stakeholder meetings were held, and deadlines were extended to ensure compliance. However, enforcement kicked off on January 24, 2025, with 10 trucks apprehended and later released as a show of goodwill.
The Lagos State Government has launched a full-scale crackdown on truck operators flouting the E-Call Up System, vowing to end the traffic nightmare along the Lekki-Epe axis.
After two years in the pipeline, the technology-driven system is now fully operational, aiming to regulate the influx of trucks heading to the Lekki Deep Seaport, Lekki Free Zone, Dangote Refinery, and other major industrial hubs in the area.
A statement by Bolanle Ogunlola, Deputy Director, Public Affairs, on Monday, warned truckers to fall in line or face the full wrath of the law.
According to the government, multiple stakeholder meetings were held, and deadlines were extended to ensure compliance. However, enforcement kicked off on January 24, 2025, with 10 trucks apprehended and later released as a show of goodwill.
The government’s patience, however, ran thin on February 21, 2025, when another 11 trucks were seized for non-compliance.
The enforcement team faced violent resistance, leading to arrests of suspects involved in the attack. Though the government later released both the suspects and trucks, it issued a stern warning:
“This act of clemency should not be mistaken for weakness.”
With the March 1, 2025 deadline now set for total enforcement, the state has made it clear—no more second chances!
“All violators will be apprehended and made to face the full wrath of the law,” the statement declared, reaffirming Lagos’ commitment to ensuring order along the crucial industrial corridor.
