To tap into wholistic utilization of Nasarawa’s lithium endowment, one hundred indigenes of the State will acquire skills in refining the resource.
This much was the commitment gotten from the Ganfeng Lithium Industry when Governor Abdullahi Sule visited the company’s refining plant in Ogun State on Sunday.
The governor said the essence of the visit was to follow the lithium refined from the state, to be sure that the firm adhered to the Nasarawa State mining policy.
The policy provides that mining companies must situate processing plants on the State for the purpose of value-addition.
This will, the governor noted, curtail the past practice where the natural resource was just taken away in its raw form.
To achieve this, a statement signed by Ibrahim Addra quoted the Governor Sule as saying “One of the promises I extracted from them is that they will bring 100 people from Nasarawa State to be able to learn here (Sagamu), so that when they return to Nasarawa, they can be able to work in the factory.”
The company also assured the governor that work is progressing on its refinery in Endo, Nasarawa State and the dateline for its completion is fixed for June this year.
Reports indicate that the lithium refining plant in Endo is three times the capacity of the plant in Sagamu, Ogun State.
