In a soul-baring moment, Nigerian singer and Marlian Music boss, Naira Marley, has spoken out about the burden he has carried since the tragic passing of his former signee, Mohbad.
In a heartfelt message, he poured out his pain, frustration, and sense of betrayal, revealing the scars he has silently borne while the world turned against him.
“I never thought silence could be so loud,” he began, his words heavy with sorrow. “I never thought someone I called my brother, someone I protected, would leave this world with my name in his shadow.”
For months, Naira Marley has been at the centre of a storm, accused and vilified in the wake of Mohbad’s passing.
He recalled the weight of being blamed for a tragedy he insists he had no hand in, a pain amplified by those he once trusted.
“We, as Marlians, were not perfect. We had to grow, we had to adapt. Mistakes were made, but they were business – never war,” he clarified, painting a picture of a complicated but not hostile relationship with Mohbad.
He claimed they had made peace long before the tragedy, a bond the world refused to acknowledge.
Yet, when Mohbad drew his last breath, Naira Marley sadi those closest to the late singer turned on him.
“You let them tear me apart. You let them call me a killer while you sat there, knowing the truth.”
The pain of betrayal echoes through his words. He recalled opening his home to those who have now changed the narrative, pointing fingers, shifting blame, while Mohbad still lies unburied.
“Telling the truth from the beginning would have given him the rest he deserves,” he said, a haunting reminder that justice remains elusive.
Through it all, Naira Marley said he did not run. He faced the system, endured incarceration, and bore the brunt of public outrage.
“You never thought I would survive. You never thought I would walk through the fire and face my people,” he wrote, insisting that, despite the accusations, he stood his ground.
Yet, through the pain and trials, he remains steadfast in one belief: time will reveal the truth.
“God sees all. The truth does not shake. The lies will fade, and time will reveal everything.”
For a man who once embodied the fearless and rebellious Marlian movement, his message is that of a man forever changed, wounded but unbroken.
“I have been broken, but I am not destroyed. And when the truth finally speaks, I pray your heart is strong enough to bear it.”
