Liverpool reinforced their dominance in the English Premier League with a convincing 2-0 victory over Newcastle United at Anfield on Wednesday, stretching their lead at the top of the table to 13 points.

The Reds put on a clinical display, dictating the tempo and outclassing their opponents in every department.

Mohamed Salah and Alexis Mac Allister played pivotal roles, with the latter sealing the win with a stunning strike in the 63rd minute.

From the outset, Liverpool controlled possession with crisp passing and relentless pressing. Newcastle struggled to match the hosts’ intensity, as the home side carved out several early chances. Luis Diaz and Salah were a constant menace down the flanks, keeping the Magpies’ defence on edge.

The visitors attempted to respond through Anthony Gordon and Jacob Murphy, but Liverpool’s defensive solidity, marshalled by Virgil van Dijk, ensured that Alisson Becker was rarely troubled.

Despite Newcastle’s late substitutions and attempts to push forward, Liverpool remained in control. Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez injected fresh energy, keeping the pressure on the visitors’ backline. Pope was forced into a crucial save to deny Salah late on, but the outcome was never in doubt as Liverpool comfortably saw out the game.
