Four individuals have been sentenced to a combined 48 and a half years in prison following a Metropolitan Police Specialist Crime investigation into the fatal stabbing of a man in Hounslow.
Ben Laing, 23, of De Brome Road, Feltham, and Durra Abdi, 19, of Western Avenue, Acton, were each jailed for 22 years for the murder of Tyreece Scott in the Hounslow murder.
Laing was also convicted for drug-related offences, while Abdi’s sentence included possession of a bladed article.
Two others were sentenced for perverting the course of justice. Reda Mohamed, 24, of Linslade Close, Hounslow, received a four-and-a-half-year prison term, while Morgan Allen, 29, of Reeve Street, Feltham, was handed a two-year sentence, suspended for 18 months.
According to the Met Police, the trial, which began on 26 November at the Old Bailey, revealed that Tyreece was attacked in the early hours of 16 January 2024 on Hibernia Road, a quiet residential street in Hounslow.
Despite emergency responders’ efforts, the 24-year-old succumbed to a stab wound to the chest shortly after.
Prosecutors told the court the murder stemmed from a dispute linked to drug dealing and territorial control.
Detectives swiftly identified Laing and Abdi as suspects, arresting them at Stansted Airport upon their return to the UK on 19 January. They were charged with murder two days later.
A thorough review of CCTV footage enabled investigators to match a bag carried by Abdi at the crime scene to one he had in his possession when arrested. Forensic examination of the defendants’ mobile phones further strengthened the case, revealing incriminating messages, notes, and internet searches, including a search for “Hounslow stabbing” on Abdi’s device.
Detective Inspector Paul Fagence, who led the investigation, said: “Drug dealing is a brutal trade that has tragically cost Tyreece his life. This case serves as a stark reminder of the devastating impact the drug trade has on communities.
“Although there was no evidence to suggest Tyreece knew his killers, a combination of CCTV, mobile phone data, and ANPR technology played a crucial role in securing these convictions. Our thoughts remain with Tyreece’s family and friends, and we hope they can now find some measure of peace.”
All four defendants were convicted at the Old Bailey on 10 January.
