Two men identified as Rabiu Jibril and Bilal Umaru has been sentences to 12 months imprisonment each for stealing two mobile phones valued at N620,000 in Jos, Plateau State.
Police Prosecutor, Insp Ijuptil Thlawur, told the court that the case was reported at the Anglo Jos Police Station, on Jan. 6, by Ms Favour Donald and Queen Ochanya, the complainants.
He said the convicts trespassed into the shop of the first complainant while she was making the hair of the second complainant and threatened them with a knife and stole an iPhone 11 promax and a Techno Spark 30 all valued at N620, 000.
The prosecutor said that during police investigation, the accused persons confessed to the crime.
The offence, he said, contravened the Plateau State Penal Code law of Northern Nigeria.
The two men pleaded guilty to the offences.
In his verdict Shawomi Bokkos of Jos Area Court in Jos on Monday, sentenced the convicts to 12 months imprisonment each.
The judge, however gave them an option of fine of N100, 000.
He also ordered that they each pay a compensation of N250, 000 to the complainants or risk another 12 months in jail each on default .
