In a dramatic turn of events, Delta State Police have intercepted a heavily armed suspect who went to great lengths to smuggle deadly weapons.
The suspect, attempting to evade detection, had cunningly modified the trunk of a Toyota Camry, popularly known as “Big Daddy,” in a desperate bid to conceal his cargo.
The game was up when officers inspecting the vehicle noticed something unusual—the trunk was far smaller than expected.
Delta Police Command’s spokesman, SP Bright Edafe in a post on X on Monday said sensing foul play, the alert policemen took swift action.
He said upon opening the back door and removing the rear seat, they uncovered a chilling find: three AK-47 rifles and an astonishing 3,120 rounds of ammunition packed into four boxes.
Edafe stated that the suspect was immediately taken into custody, and investigations were now in full swing to unravel the full extent of the operation.
He added that authorities are working to determine whether this is part of a larger arms-smuggling network.
