In another twist to the political crisis rocking the state, lawmakers in the Rivers House of Assembly on Thursday asked the Department of State Services (DSS) to investigate the Chief Judge of the State, Simeon Amadi, over alleged age falsification.

The Amaewhule led lawmakers arrived at the decision at their plenary following some documents made available to the legislative chamber by the leader of the House, Hon Major Jack.

Following the presentation of the documents, the Deputy Speaker of the House, Hon Dumle Maol raised an allegation of age falsification against CJ Simeon Amadi.

“These document before me simply say that the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Simeon Amadi falsified his age in service. Mr Speaker, that is a very serious allegation, and I do hope that this House takes legislative notice.”

Speaking on the issue, the Speaker, Martin Amaewhule said, “The documents are only suggesting a case of age falsification by the honourable Chief Judge of the state, Simeon Amadi. What it means is that there has to be an investigation to that effect.”

After shot debate, the lawmakers agreed to write to the Director of DSS in Rivers to investigate CJ Amadi.

They also said the DSS should forward results of its investigation to the House.
