Kwara State Government has announced the immediate revocation of all 2024 signage and billboard licenses across the state.
This move follows an earlier notification suspending all billboard licenses in the state.
The revocation is aimed at removing unauthorized and improperly erected billboards, posters, and light pole banners in Ilorin metropolis and other urban centers.
This initiative aligns with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s Urban Renewal Programme, which seeks to transform Kwara into a modern and visually appealing state.
According to Hon. Bolanle Olukoju, Chairman of the Kwara State Taskforce Committee on Illegal Billboards and Signages, no new registrations or renewals of signage and billboard licenses will be processed until further notice.
This temporary measure will allow the state to finalize a new regulatory framework for outdoor advertising.
The government has urged owners of unidentified billboards to remove them immediately, as enforcement will commence next week.
Identifications of billboards are ongoing, and non-compliant structures will be addressed.
