President Donald Trump has revoked the Secret Service protection for Hunter and Ashley Biden, citing the “ridiculous” cost to taxpayers.
This decision comes after Trump discovered that Hunter Biden had taken his 18-agent security detail on a trip to South Africa, where his wife Melissa Cohen is originally from.
Joe Biden gave his children six months of Secret Service protection after he left office, but the move is not an unusual move by a president.
Trump gave his children six months of protection after his first term.
Trump never knew about the protection for Biden’s children until a reporter asked him a question about it.
The president said he had not been aware of it but would look into it.
Shortly after Trump found out, he blasted Biden’s son for going to South Africa and taking his detail, citing the high cost to the U.S. taxpayer. Hunter’s wife Melissa Cohen is originally from South Africa.
‘Hunter Biden has had Secret Service protection for an extended period of time, all paid for by the United States Taxpayer.
‘There are as many as 18 people on this Detail, which is ridiculous! He is currently vacationing in, of all places, South Africa, where the Human Rights of people has been strenuously questioned,’ Trump wrote on Truth Social.
‘Because of this, South Africa has been taken off our list of Countries receiving Economic and Financial Assistance. Please be advised that, effective immediately, Hunter Biden will no longer receive Secret Service protection. Likewise, Ashley Biden who has 13 agents will be taken off the list.’
