A few hours after the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has vacated the Government House in Port Harcourt along with his family and security details.
Fubara reportedly left the seat of power on Wednesday morning, PUNCH quoted an anonymous source.
It added that security at the Government House remained sparse as of Wednesday afternoon while normal activities were ongoing in Port Harcourt and its environs.
Meanwhile, the Administrator appointed by the President to oversee affairs the state for the next six months, Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas (retd.), had yet to assume office as of 12:50 p.m. on Wednesday.
There were earlier reports today that Ibas went to meet President Tinubu in Aso Rock.
Meanwhile, preparations were underway in Port Harcourt to receive the Administrator, as about 15 soldiers were seen inside the premises ahead of his expected arrival.
