Fears of a potential disruption in fuel supply surged on Wednesday following reports of an incident at the Port Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC), but the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has swiftly moved to quell panic.

Despite the scare, NNPCL in a statement insisted that the refinery remains fully operational and continues to churn out refined petroleum products without disruption.

In an official statement, NNPCL described the situation as a “minor incident”, dismissing speculation about a possible shutdown.

“We want to reassure Nigerians that there is absolutely no cause for concern. All sections of the recently rehabilitated Port Harcourt Refinery are in full operation and continue to produce refined petroleum products within specification,” said Olufemi O. Soneye, Chief Corporate Communications Officer, NNPCL.
