Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle has called for further improvements from his team, despite securing a commanding 2-0 victory over Rwanda’s Amavubi in Friday’s FIFA World Cup qualifier in Kigali.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, the Malian tactician acknowledged the team’s strong performance but stressed the importance of refining their play ahead of Tuesday’s clash against Zimbabwe in Uyo.

“I just want to say it was a difficult game because Rwanda is a good side. I know the coach, he is a good coach, we made a great game too,” Chelle said.

While praising his players’ efforts, Chelle emphasised that the work was far from over.

“I am so happy and proud of my players, my guys, and the Nigerian people,” he said.

The coach revealed that the team had put in extensive preparation, including tactical video sessions, to gain the upper hand in the encounter.

“I think the victory or the win is normal because in the first half they had only one chance to score,” he noted.

“We kept the ball in the second half. We played two to three systems.

“I am happy now because this is just one game. We have some weaknesses and some strengths. My job is to think about the game project,” Chelle added.
