Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Yusuf, has dropped the hammer on landlords of Amana, Kwankwasiyya, and Bandirawo cities, giving them a strict three-month deadline to occupy their properties or face revocation.
In a bold directive issued on Friday, Yusuf made it clear that abandoned houses will no longer be tolerated, warning property owners to either move in or risk losing everything.
“We must continue developing our state, and these three cities were established with that vision in mind. To all property owners in these areas, I am giving a clear directive: either occupy your properties or risk revocation,” Yusuf declared.
The governor’s hard-hitting order was delivered through his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, shortly after the swearing-in of the new Commissioner for Housing Development at the Kano Government House.
Yusuf didn’t stop at just issuing threats—he offered solutions. He urged those unable to relocate to consider renting out their properties to ensure the cities remain vibrant.
“We want these cities to flourish, which is why we have provided all necessary infrastructure, including roads, water, and 24-hour electricity. The Governor’s Lodge is also situated in Kwankwasiyya, and I am already operating from there. I am with you. If you have any complaints, reach out and talk to the Governor,” he assured.
In another sweeping move, Yusuf announced a major restructuring: the State Ministry of Housing Development will now take over the Housing Corporation headquarters, while the Corporation itself will be relocated to Kwankwasiyya City—bringing governance closer to the people.
