Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, the President of Christ Embassy, also known as Believers’ LoveWorld Incorporated, alleged that the music industry has been exploiting the church for decades.

The clergyman’s remarks, captured in a viral video, criticized musicians who started their careers within the church but later transitioned to secular music.

He expressed disappointment over their failure to contribute meaningfully to the Christian ministry, asserting that many only used the church as a platform to gain popularity and financial success.

“In probably the last 40–50 years, no one has cheated the church like the music industry. What most of them have ever done was to use the church,” Oyakhilome stated.

He pointed out that numerous worldly singers began as church choir members or worship leaders before pursuing secular careers. According to him, some even leveraged their church experiences to establish financial opportunities, rather than promoting spiritual growth.

The pastor further warned his fellow clergy members against entrusting sensitive ministry roles, particularly in the music department, to individuals with self-serving intentions. He stressed that such individuals often return to the church with negative influences that could corrupt others.
