Hannatu Musa Musawa, Nigeria’s Minister of Art, Culture, and Creative Economy, has called for stronger public-private collaboration to secure the future of the nation’s art industry.
Speaking at the +234 International Art Fair, Musawa commended Ecobank Nigeria, the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC), Soto Gallery, and other sponsors for offering emerging artists a vital platform to showcase their talent and creativity. She assured attendees that her ministry would continue to support such initiatives.
During her visit to the art fair at the Ecobank Pan African Centre (EPAC) in Lagos, Musawa expressed her appreciation for the diversity of works on display, including paintings, photography, and sculptures.
She reaffirmed her commitment to helping young artists gain further exposure and contribute to Nigeria’s economic growth.
“I am deeply impressed by the richness of Nigeria’s emerging talent on display here today. This event beautifully reflects the evolution of our art, drawing inspiration from the great achievements of our ancestors. The +234 Art Fair represents the future of storytelling, filled with emotion and cultural pride. I am proud to witness young Nigerian artists being given the opportunity to express themselves fully,” she said.
Musawa also highlighted the critical role of partnerships in ensuring long-term sustainability for the industry.
“I am truly proud of Ecobank and all the other organizers for creating a platform where young artists can shine. For the continued success of our art industry, the involvement of the government is crucial. I am honoured to be here today, attending the second edition of this incredible art fair,” she added.
