A ruthless father, Kyle Kitchen who left his infant daughter with catastrophic injuries that condemned her to a lifetime of suffering has been jailed for life after her tragic death six years later.
Kitchen, 38, showed no remorse as he was sentenced at the Old Bailey to a minimum of seven years and eight months behind bars for the murder of Primrose Kane—the little girl he viciously attacked as a baby, robbing her of the ability to ever walk or talk.
According to the Met Police, Kitchen was already serving 15 years for the horrific 2014 assault when police reopened the case following Primrose’s death in 2021. Despite spending her short life battling unimaginable pain, her suffering finally ended at her grandmother’s home in Welling.
The court heard how Kitchen and Primrose’s mother called NHS 111 on 3 November 2014, after finding the two-month-old baby unresponsive in their Camden home. Doctors uncovered appalling head injuries—including a skull fracture and bleeding on the brain—which left her with the mental capacity of a newborn and severe physical disabilities for the rest of her days.
As Primrose endured years of agony, developing cerebral palsy and scoliosis, detectives from the Met’s Child Abuse Command determined her injuries were no accident. Both parents were arrested and convicted, but the nightmare didn’t end there.
On 17 May 2021, at just six years old, Primrose took her final breath—her fragile body succumbing to pneumonia, brought on by the horrific trauma she had endured.
Determined to secure justice for Primrose, homicide detectives launched a fresh investigation, proving that Kitchen’s brutal attack led to her untimely death. He was arrested and charged with murder before his conviction on 12 March 2025.
Detective Inspector Laura Nelson described the case as harrowing, stating: “Primrose was born a happy, healthy baby. The reason why Kyle Kitchen lost his temper and shook his daughter remains unknown—but his actions condemned her to a short life of pain.”
Kitchen never showed an ounce of remorse, even as detectives fought tirelessly to hold him accountable.
