President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed profound grief over the death of Senator Solomon Ayodeji Otegbola, the Asiwaju of Aworiland and a respected elder statesman, who passed away on February 17 at the age of 91.

In a condolence message to the Otegbola family and the people of Aworiland, President Tinubu described the late Senator as “a man of immense dignity, principle, and dedication to the service of his people and country.”

“Senator Otegbola was a devoted public servant, a respected legislator, and a patriarch whose influence spanned generations. His commitment to developing Aworiland and Nigeria remains deeply appreciated and widely acknowledged,” the President stated.

Reflecting on their long-standing relationship, Tinubu fondly recalled serving as Chairman at the wedding of Senator Otegbola’s son, Wale, over two decades ago — a gesture that highlighted the strong bond between the two families.

“Nigeria has lost a patriot. The Awori nation has lost a guiding light. And I have lost a noble elder whose life embodied sacrifice, wisdom, and service,” Tinubu said.

Senator Otegbola’s burial rites are scheduled to begin on April 23, with interment on April 24.
