In a heartfelt statement today, Nigerian football star Ahmed Musa condemned the recent killings in Bokkos, Plateau State, where innocent women, children, and other civilians lost their lives in a brutal attack.
The national football icon expressed his deep sorrow over the tragic incident and called on Nigerians to prioritize humanity over tribe and religion.
Musa‘s emotional post on social media urged citizens to reflect on the importance of shared humanity, stating, “We are human first—before tribe, before religion.”
He noted that the senseless violence in Bokkos serves as a painful reminder of how far society has moved away from compassion and empathy for others, regardless of their background or beliefs.
The killings, which have sent shockwaves through the country, involved the targeting of innocent civilians, and Musa emphasized the indiscriminate nature of such violence.
He stated, “Today, it’s the North. Tomorrow, it could be the South. Today, it’s a Muslim. Tomorrow, it could be a Christian. Violence does not discriminate—and neither should our compassion or our outrage.”
The footballer questioned when Nigeria had become numb to the suffering of others, pointing out that the violence was a result of division, rather than unity.
His impassioned plea for peace and justice echoed calls from other leaders and citizens across the country to end the cycle of bloodshed that has plagued the nation for too long.
Musa appealed to Nigerians to unite in the face of such horrors, saying, “We must unite. We must speak up. Not for tribe or religion—but for life.”
He urged his fellow countrymen and women to choose peace, emphasizing that now is the time for action.
The call for unity and peace was also directed at the nation’s leadership.
Musa tagged key government bodies, including the Nigerian Senate, the Nigerian Police, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as well as Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, encouraging them to take decisive action in bringing justice to the victims of the attack and working to prevent further violence.
