Nigerian gospel music stars Nathaniel Bassey and Mercy Chinwo are set to feature on CNN’s prestigious magazine show, African Voices Changemakers, sponsored by Glo, this weekend.

The 30-minute episode, hosted by Larry Madowo, will showcase exclusive moments from the two musical giants, offering viewers a behind-the-scenes look at their inspiring journeys and impact on the gospel music scene.

Chinwo, renowned for her powerful voice, captivating stage presence, and undeniable charisma, continues to win the hearts of fans globally.

Bassey, known for his musical brilliance, particularly through the viral Hallelujah Challenge, consistently draws large audiences both in-person and online.

Born on August 27, 1981, in Akwa Ibom State, Bassey is a celebrated Nigerian singer, trumpet player, and gospel songwriter, famous for hits like “Yahweh Sabaoth,” “Ebenezer,” “Tobechukwu,” and “Imela.”

He studied Politics and Music at Middlesex University in London, after earning a degree in International Relations and Politics from the University of Lagos.

Bassey is one of Nigeria’s leading gospel music preachers, known for his humility and versatility across genres such as jazz, worship, medleys, and hymns. He serves as the pastor of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, King’s Court, in Victoria Island, Lagos.

Chinwo, born on September 5, 1991, started her musical journey in the church at just six years old. After signing with EeZee Conceptz in 2017, she released her breakout hit, “Excess Love,” in 2018. Mercy, who holds a degree in Human Resources Management from the International Business Management Institute, has received numerous accolades, including Gospel Artiste of the Year at the 2020 AFRIMMA Awards and Africa Gospel Music of the Year at the CLIMA Africa Award 2022.

The episode will air on Saturday at 8:30 a.m., with repeats at noon, 4:30 a.m., and 2 p.m. on Sunday, and 4 a.m. on Monday. The same schedule will follow next week.
