Russell Brand charged with rape, sexual assault by UK Police

According to a statement released on Friday, the United Kingdom’s Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) authorized the Metropolitan Police to file charges against Brand after reviewing evidence from a comprehensive investigation.
Popular British actor and comedian Russell Brand has been formally charged with multiple sexual offences, including rape and assault, following a series of allegations dating back to between 1999 and 2005.
According to a statement released on Friday, the United Kingdom’s Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) authorized the Metropolitan Police to file charges against Brand after reviewing evidence from a comprehensive investigation.
The probe was launched following a 2023 Channel 4 documentary that brought the allegations to light.
Brand, who resides in Oxfordshire, southern England, is facing one count of rape, one count of oral rape, one count of assault, and two counts of sexual assault. Authorities confirmed that the charges involve four separate women.
Jaswant Narwal of the CPS stated, “The CPS has authorized the Metropolitan Police to charge Russell Brand with a number of sexual offences. These relate to reported non-recent offences between 1999 and 2005, involving four women.”
Brand is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on May 2, 2025.
