Pascal Dozie, the founder of the defunct Diamond Bank Plc and  former chairman of MTN Nigeria, Pascal Dozie, died in the early hours of Tuesday at the age of 85.

Here are 1o quick facts to know about the late business tycoon.

1. Dozie was born in 1939 in the Egbu village of Owerri, Nigeria. He was born into the family of Charles Dozie who was a Catholic catechist.

2. He attended Our Lady’s School Emekuku where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC). He subsequently attended Holy Ghost Juniorate Seminary and Holy Ghost College, Owerri, where he obtained his West African Senior School Certificate Examination.

3.  He studied Economics at the London School of Economics and obtained a BSc in Economics. He also attended City University in London where he obtained a master’s degree in Administrative Science.

4. Dozie worked at the National Economic Development Office in the United Kingdom. He served as  a part-time lecturer at the North Western Polytechnic, London.  He also  served as a consulting economist at the African States Consulting Organisation in Uganda between 1970 and 1971

5. . In 1971, he returned to Nigeria. He launched his first company, the African Development Consulting Group (ADCG).

6. In 1985, he was appointed Chairman of the now defunct Progress Bank, which is now defunct.[

7. He founded the Diamond Bank of which he was CEO between 1991 to 2006 before handing over to his son Uzoma Dozie.

8. He was at one time President of the Nigerian Stock Exchange.

9. He played a huge role in the launch of MTN Nigeria, a company  he served as pioneer chairman.

10. He  is survived by his wife, Chinyere and five children.
