Grammy Award-winning music star, Burna Boy, has issued a candid message to fellow artistes, cautioning them against being misled by online validation and fleeting social media trends.
In a strongly worded post shared via his Instagram Story, Burna Boy warned that Twitter polls and praise from Nigerian social media users do not equate to real-world support, especially on the global stage.
“Dear artists, don’t let Twitter polls and Naija social media fans deceive you. They won’t fill up any stadium for you in any part of the world,” he wrote.
The self-acclaimed African Giant emphasized that topping music charts in Nigeria alone is not a remarkable feat. Instead, he urged musicians to set their sights on more significant accomplishments or consider diversifying into other business ventures.
“Your song being Number 1 on any streaming platform in Nigeria is not something to celebrate. Aim higher or do other businesses on the side. I type with love. No Sign Of Weakness,” he added.
