An On-Air-Personality recently questioned pop star Davido and other celebrity artistes’ preference of foreign media to local media.
Mannie Essien, a radio presenter, took to his Instagram page to ask why famous Nigerian artistes prefer to interact and attend interviews with foreign radio stations and media houses rather than local ones.
He also stated that Artistes would rather clear the air on rumors with foreign radio stations than with local radio stations.
“Just a thought, so our artistes have to go abroad to foreign radio stations to clear the air on rumors? Local media is not credible enough for them to talk? Am i missing something?” He wrote.
This question came up few hours after Davido revealed the possibility of a collaboration with Wizkid and Burna Boy as well as the date of his white wedding with Chioma on the Breakfast Club. Questions regarding why he didn’t do that in an interview with a local radio station started to arise.
This question by Mannie sparked conversations on why Nigerian artistes tend to discard the local media houses after attaining global recognition.
Some reactions from that post attributed that action to the ability to uphold values of the media profession. Some said this occured because the foreign radio stations ask the right question and have better and higher engagement than local radio stations.
