Two Ogun Eiye confraternity cult members identified as Kayode Olusegun, 25, and Joseph Samuel, 36, arrested at a scene of a clash with rival cults members have been sentenced to seven years imprisonment each without option of fine.

The police had arraigned the defendants on a three-count charge of conspiracy, belonging to an unlawful society and breach of public peace.

The prosecutor, Insp Olaide Rawlings, told the court that the defendants committed the offence, with some others still at large, on Feb. 9, 2024 at 5p.m. at Itori Village in Ijebu-Ode area of Ogun.

Rawlings said the police arrested the defendants at the scene of a clash with a rival cult group.

“The police received information about the clash, and upon visiting the scene, the defendants were arrested, while the others escaped,” she said.

The prosecutor said that the defendants confessed that they belonged to the ‘Eiye confraternity cult’.

She added that the defendants conducted themselves in an unruly manner likely to breach public peace.
