President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday met with Dr. Massad Boulos, Senior Advisor for Africa at the U.S. Department of State, in Paris for strategic talks centred on regional security and strengthening economic collaboration across the African continent.

According to a statement by the U.S. Mission in Nigeria, the high-level meeting focused on ongoing efforts to restore peace in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), where violent conflicts continue to destabilise the region.

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to working with international partners to support durable peace and stability in the troubled zone.

“State Department Senior Advisor for Africa Massad Boulos met with President Tinubu on Thursday to discuss regional security including working together with partners to build a durable peace in eastern DRC,” the U.S. Mission stated via its official platform.

In addition to security concerns, the meeting also explored opportunities to expand economic cooperation across Africa.

The discussions covered areas such as trade, investment, and infrastructure development, with a focus on leveraging Nigeria’s position as a regional economic leader to unlock broader continental growth.

President Tinubu, who has made economic diplomacy a central pillar of his foreign policy, emphasised Nigeria’s readiness to engage in strategic partnerships that foster sustainable development and mutual prosperity.

The Paris meeting signals continued U.S. interest in Africa’s peace and economic trajectory, and highlights Nigeria’s pivotal role in shaping the continent’s future amid growing global attention.
